Belle Starr and George Washington as told in "The Shirley News International Fifth Edition 1988"

The following is the newsletter from the Shirley Family Association that has two articles that might be of interest to my Booth family members.  To refresh everyone's memory the Shirley family is a part of the Booth family by Sarah Shirley. Sarah married Henry Holtsclaw and their granddaughter, Margaret married Anderson Booth.

My family always thought we were related by marriage to Belle Starr on our Starr line (my father's) but that has been proved false by many Starr family researchers. There are two lines of the Starrs with the same names but are not related to each other.  But there is a direct connection to Belle Starr herself through our Shirley line (my mother's) of the family.  It is not completely proven exactly how we are related but it is assumed at this point in time due to all Shirley family members being able to trace their lineage back to the same ancestor in England. 

The connection to George Washington is also outlined in this newsletter, but as with Belle Starr our connection is not completely proven only that we have mutual ancestors.
