Our family is blessed to have several published authors in our ranks, and many more that should be published!  This post tells about the published books and how to purchase them. If you know of others, let me know!

The first author is my brother, Steve Pollock.  He authored the book "Deadly Turbulence The Air Safety Lessons of Braniff Flight 250 and Other Airliners, 1959-1966"; McFarland Publishers, 2014.

This is a non-fiction work. "This book discusses five disasters or near-disasters of the early  Jet Age, experiences which shook the industry, regulators and public out of early complacency and helped build a more realistic foundation for safer air transportation."

Of course, I have this book and have read it and recommend it!

The next author is Wayne Short.  Wayne is a member of the Short/Norton/Pollock line of my family.  He has written many books, of which I have three.  Even my husband has read these books and he doesn't even like to read! So he endorses them as I do as great reading!

Wayne's book "Luke Short a Biography of One of the Old West's Most Colorful Gamblers and Gunfighters"; Devil Thumb Press Publishers; 1996.

This is a story about Wayne's great-uncle Luke Short. It is the most thorough account of Luke's life that you will not read any where else and the most truthful. As a point of reference, Luke Short and my 2nd-great-grandmother Martha Emily Norton Pollock were 1st cousins.

The movie rights have been purchased so hopefully we will be able to see a movie from Wayne Short soon!

I own this book and have read it several times, it is a MUST read!
"The Cheechakoes" by Wayne Short; Random House; 1962 & 1964.

"Picture this: World War II has just ended and Dad decides to move the family to the wilds of Alaska. Hmm. Could be fun; could be a nightmare. The author of this book, Wayne Short, discovered what challenge really means when his mom and dad moved Wayne and his two brothers to the wilderness of Surprise Harbor at the tip of Admiralty Island."

Lee and I loved reading this book.  It is full of real life adventure and even though we haven't met Wayne we loved reading his real life story.  We give this book a MUST Read!

"This Raw Land" by Wayne Short. "This Raw Land is a sequel to Wayne Short's The Cheechakoes, and tells the adventurous story of his bringing his bride north to Alaska-and their raising of a family on a lonely island in the Alexander Archipelago.

Short who skippered a commercial fishing boat during the summer season and wrote when the snow closes in on the mountains, tells a fascinating true tale of life known to only to a few.
The book is quick reading from start to finish; an evening haunted by the lonely cry of a loon, of humor and danger in an isolated life that is a part of the Alaskan heritage."

"Albie, & Billy, The Sky Pilot & Other Stories" by Wayne Short; Devil's Thumb Press Publishers, 1995.

"In this book, Wayne Short tells the true stories of Alaskan characters he's known in a half century of commercial fishing in the Alexander Archipelago of southeastern Alaska. The book consists of twenty-one stories of men and women involved with dramatic action, humor-and at times, violent death. It is a book you won't want to put down."

This book is quite expensive on Amazon, but is also available on AbeBooks.com.    As with all of Wayne's books he writes stories that he has experienced and makes the stories come alive because of his experiences.

I have this book and it is A Great read!

"Sea Star Legacy (Leap of Faith)" by Carolyn Forrest

"Sandra Harris knows first hand that hard work and aptitude won't make you a success. You need a lucky break. When she inherits her estranged father's boating business, Sandra realizes this is her opportunity to make something of her life. But even her apparent good fortune turns out to be a mixed blessing. Armed with a bachelor's degree in business, she is determined to mold the barely profitable company into the proverbial gold mine. To do so, she plans to blast through several obstacles in her path. First, she must learn the boating industry. Secondly, she will have to convince the community of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida to trust a woman in what has a traditionally been a man's job while addressing threats aimed to scare her out of town. The one obstacle she isn't prepared for is Luke Caldwell. Her business savvy can help her succeed with the community and learning the ropes but only her heart can teach her to trust the man she loves.

Carolyn (Farla as she is known by family) is my husband, Lee's cousin.  If you love romance and strong women characters, this book is a must read!
