Alfred John Brown
​(1770 - 20 Aug 1825)

(circa 1784 - 1835)
John was born in 1770 in Warren County, North Carolina to Alfred John Brown Sr. and Sarah Mayfield.  He married Nancy Neely, the daughter of Isaac Neely and Nancy Coppedge on September 18, 1799 in Washington County, Kentucky. Nancy was born circa 1784 in Neely's Fork, Kentucky. John died on August 20, 1825  and Nancy died in 1835 in Phelps County, MIssouri. 

Isaac Neely was the founder of Neely's Gap, Kentucky and on the first voyage with Col. John Donelson and helped found Fort Nashborough, which is now known as Nashville, Tennessee. You may read about their voyage on Isaac's father's page by clicking here:  William Neely

In the Kentucky Tax Lists for the years 1799-1801 which is considered to be the "Second Census of Kentucky", John is listed as living in Washington County in 1800.
