Very little is known about Ellin Cowgill. Her husband is assumed to be Ralph who was executed in England for his faith. No documentation for this can be found by any researcher. Assumptions are also made regarding Ellin's heritage, it is assumed her maiden name was Stackhouse, with Thomas Stackhouse her brother who also immigrated with her on the same ship.
The ship the Cowgill's obtained passage on is also shown to be two different ships, the Welcome and the Lamb. The Welcome passenger list has been proven by one researcher and he states that the Cowgill's could not have been on the Welcome, but traveled on the Lamb
