Summer Vacation
July 2-9, 2005

Roy and I left Fort Worth in our van on Saturday, July 2nd for Summit Station, PA to attend the 33rd National Truck-In for all the van clubs in the nation. The Truck-In didn't begin until the 6th, so we took our time traveling. We spent the first night in Memphis, TN. Then we went on to Bowling Green, Kentucky. We spent 2 days there, could've spent more!! We really loved Bowling Green. We went to Mammoth Cave, the Corvette Museum and toured the general area taking the back roads. We made our way to Abraham Lincoln's birthplace and childhood home and museum. From there we went to Morgantown, West Virginia and spent the night of the 4th there. The President was there as well-- it was a beautiful area. Spent the night at a Ramada Inn on top of what we would call a mountain here in Texas!! Then we left and went through Maryland and then to Gettysburg, PA. We took the car tour through the battle field, it was very moving!! From there, we went to Harrisburg and to Hershey, just spent a little time in the Hershey museum. Without the kids, it just wasn't as much fun! Then we made it to Summit Station, PA on Tuesday (the 5th) afternoon. The Truck-In was held at the county fair grounds. There was already a lot of vans there, we were number 450-something. At the end there was supposed to be over 650!! We met a lot of nice people, camped by a very nice lady from Dallas who was the president of the Dallas Van Club, she really made us feel a part. There were some really incredible vans from all over the US and Canada. Pictures just do not do them justice. We had to leave on Friday before the judging of vans took place so we probably missed the best part. But, we still had a great time. We left on Friday morning during a very heavy rain, the hurricane had hit Florida and the rains had already made it to PA. We came back a different route -- west to Pittsburgh, through Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri -- saw the Arch for the first time at midnight, Oklahoma, and finally Texas!! We drove 29 hours straight to make it home right at 12:00 noon on Saturday, the 9th.

Here are some of the pictures!
There are a lot -- so it might take a while to load!!
