I wish to thank the following people for their contributions and for their willingness to share their hard work and research with me. Their labor-intensive research has provided answers to questions that seemed would remain a mystery forever. You have my greatest appreciation.
My father, Marion Elzie Pollock, started me on this project. Iona Pollock, wife of Ike Pollock, gave him her hand-written report starting with John, born 1800. Thank you Iona! Dad wanted me to organize it for him so he could see how he was related to everyone. That led to bigger things! I dedicate this to him!
The next person to provide me with information was Margie Black. She provided her lineage starting with Nancy Emily Pollock, daughter of Isaac James Pollock, sister to my great-grandfather Isaac Jackson Pollock. Thank you Margie, you opened doors I didn't know were there. She also sent me research by John C. Barron.
John traced the Pollock family to Robert Pollock, circa 1740 Ireland. His work encompasses nine generations. His very thorough documentation provides a visual and personal view of members of the family that was hitherto unknown. His willingness to share all his findings with everyone garners great respect. Thank you for personalizing our forefathers so we see more than names and dates, but can also get a picture of them and the lives they led.
David Pollock provided the information about the descendants of his father, James Jacob Pollock (1883-1963). James was the son of Isaac James and Martha Emily (Norton) Pollock; brother to my g-grandfather Isaac Jackson. Again, my sincerest thanks for taking the time to provide all this data!
Virginia Rouse Lyles sent a personal story written by her aunt, Loreva Gertrude Pollock. This story gives a clearer picture of the lives led by her and her siblings, one of whom was my grandfather Curtis Pollock. She also provided a copy of an "Affidavit to Establish Birth" for Mearon Edgar Pollock signed by Isaac Jackson Pollock. Virginia has also included copies of the Clan Pollock newsletter she has received over the years. I'll be getting the information on membership to Clan Pollock and how to receive this newsletter and if there is anyone else interested, e-mail me and I'll send you the specifics. Virginia is also one who has been researching the family for many, many years. Thank you for sharing your work with us all!
Debra Manning has been a great help and resource for her line of the family. She is a descendant of William Lee Pollock, granddaughter of Ike and Iona. Debra and her sister, Rita, have hosted the Pollock/Wallace reunion in Duncan for the past two years. Debra has written the story about the 2000 reunion that is posted on this website and has remained in contact with me and provided valuable information and pictures and answered my various questions. Thanks Debra!! Keep it coming.
Maurine Gotcher Smith and her daughter, Vicki Land, contributed their linage starting with Robert4 & Mary Coley Pollock. They provided tributes, pictures and research. Thank you Maurine and Vicki for expanding our knowledge of the family, we appreciate your hard work! Your tributes to your Grandfather Obediah & father Murray, are inspiring!
Kenneth Pollock5 has submitted his research and documents on Benjamin A. Pollock4, son of John3 and Mary Norton Pollock. Thank you so much Ken for sharing with us!
Margaret Hanes Pollock Peterson, wife of the late Homer Wiley Pollock5 has also been kind enough to provide descendants of Benjamin A. Pollock4 for us to get to know. We wish to express our appreciation for her time and willingness to contribute to our community!
Chuck Seel, also a descendant of Benamin A. Pollock4, son of John3 and Mary Norton Pollock has submitted all of his research and gedcom files to further our knowledge of this branch -- Thanks Chuck!
Richard Phillips of Mississippi has contributed his research on his line of the Pollocks from William Pollock, son of John & Mary Norton Pollock.
